I have a different view to this. The man was not "crazy". He did this for a reason. The asylum seeker must have wanted freedom to do this. If he didn't risk this, he would still be stuck with his old life, he obviously wanted to start a new life and go on the boat. What has he got to lose?

I don't find this crazy, I find it astonishing. How one man could be under so much stress, and have gone through so much that he gets desperate enough to jump on the back of a ferry. This is breathtakingly sad.

If a person is that dedicated that they will go to such lengths to gain asylum, I think they should be granted it on compassionate grounds.
