Linux Directory Structure #1
In this paper, I will discuss a bit about linux (ubuntu), which in this case I am still new to linux world

Linux root directory has a few folders which is a standard directory on most Linux distributions. Directories include:

/ Bin

contains the standard binary files that can be used by all users both a regular user or super user.



/ Boot

contains the files used to boot Linux, including kernel image



/ Dev

contains a special file system that is a reflection of the hardware devices that are recognized and used system.



/ Etc

contains system configuration files, typically only be changed by super user



/ Home

directories contain a home directory for a normal user and specific application.



/ Lib

contains the library files that are used to support the work of the Linux kernel



/ Initrd

This folder is the mounting of RAM (/ dev/ram0) that is useful to speed up the process of booting the Operating System.



/ Mnt

special directory provided for mounting (link) disk storage devices to the system in the form of directory.



/ Proc

contains a special system file that shows the kernel data at any time



/ Root

home directory for the root user (a special user with virtually unlimited priviledges)



/ Media

containing a media store that has termounting (related).



/ Sbin

the same as bin directory, but only the super user should use the binary-binary considering binary functions contained in this directory for system maintenance.



/ Tmp

contains temporary files needed an application that is running.



/ Usr

contains the libraries, binaries, documentation and other files the user installation.



/ Var

contains the log files, mailboxes and data applications.
