I purchased a pair of Bose headphones on Amazon, and I received headphones significantly cheaper within the actual Bose box and casing. I have no idea how something like this could have happened, it was shipped and sold by Amazon.

How do you think this happened? I can't imagine it being a random mistake. The other headphones would've been sent in their original packaging, no? Funniest thing to ever happen to me on Amazon lol

So you received the wrong headphones rather than the ones you wanted?

I suppose now you can make your first legit "wrong item" claim!

(Are you sure you didn't purchase it refurbished and someone finessed you?)

Something like this happened with a vacuum cleaner I ordered. I bought a cheaper Shark model, and I ended up receiving quite an expensive one. And like any sensible person, I told no one! Because ultimately it's Amazons mistake. And I'm not obligated to fix a mistake they made...

So I guess stuff like that can happen if you order enough.

A fine example of someone who SEd Amazon using the "similar Item" method.

Evidently, they (Amazon) neglected to check the contents.

It was a brand new pair haha. I guess I should've known something was wrong when the box wasn't wrapped.

I thought this might be the case but how could they just ship off something like that and sell it at the full price too lol. I expected better but that's a good thing for anyone attempting this method.

A lot of people are overworked there & start to not care or make mistakes.
Detach from your emotions & see the whole picture.

Ha! That's quite funny. Imagine preparing to do a DNA or a partial only to get the wrong item for real. This just goes to show you how well they check the items you return back.

I completely missed this quote.

As @relaxed state mentioned above, at times they don't have the manpower to look at each and every claim.
