The details listed on the packaging and tracking, Is not a representation of the events that take place at the carrier's depot.

For example, In my line of work (and without naming specifics for obvious reasons) we take weights & dimensions of every pallet, skid, package etc for record keeping and cost of freight. The details are only documented on the manifest, and not the shipping label nor online tracking. In short, unbeknownst to the buyer/seller, a lot goes on behind the scenes.

Okay, definitely makes sense. That aside EB is still the method you’d go for correct? The pictures I got look pretty good honestly as far as looking clearly opened but not so much as to have raised suspicions to the driver etc.

Just to clarify the weight, Is It as per below?
Quote:doesn’t list a weight but no more than a few grams

So all that came in the box was an invoice, some relatively thick wrapping paper, a quite light (looks nice but basically car-dboard based) jewelry box and the necklace. The box and necklace together are extremely light but I don’t have an accurate way of measuring unfortunately. I could just say that the box was still in there and the necklace itself was simply taken out and the necklace itself weighs no more than 5g for sure it’s very very light. It’s the size of a pinky nail on a very light gold chain.

Do exactly that.

Absolutely perfect for the missing Item method.

I can assure you that shipping scales do not Increment the said weight, hence they cannot Identify that the Item was enclosed.

I called today and got very little potentially negative feedback. Was basically told she escalated and notated the account and that I should go to the closest Zales store with what I did receive and they would send it back for me. Then I would “most likely get a refund” in her words but that I needed to wait for the escalation department. But the fact that the next step is sending everything back and they didn’t question anything or even ask for the pictures I had makes me feel confident. The lady even said “low key they’ll probably just issue you a refund without anything further”. So hopefully it goes that way. Will update with final verdict. Thank you for all the help.

If that's the case, why are they handling the escalation and processing your claim? And not the Zales store as per her Instructions?

I'm not directing this at yourself, but rather the person assessing your claim.

For future SEs, It's good to know they have a brain-dead claims management team.

Your next course of action (If any), will be based on their response.

Hello, yes, I have heard a lot from my friends who work in this field that they have often written a statement that the box was reopened.  My friend has long been looking for a suitable, high-quality bracelet and finally decided to order a bracelet for $ 600 from the site https://gloriajewels.com/. But when the order arrived, it was not very consistent with what he called. So he decided to pull the glued side down, took out the box, left the paper, carefully put everything back together, took pictures, and sent it off, saying that the order was open.

You've formulated a very calculated approach which Is quite effective. Well done on that.

I just need clarification on your following post:
Quote:the fact that the weight was just set from the computer at 1lb and wasn’t actually weighed

Are you saying It wasn't weighed at the carrier's depot?

Thank you. And yes I believe so. Both online tracking as well as the packaging itself simply says 1lbs. Not 1.05lbs or whatever else just a generic didn’t even get weighed small number.

I think they did this because when you create a label, it's much faster to put 1lb as the weight.

Rather than put the exact weight when you know that the price until a certain threshold will be the same. To clarify with some courier agreements, the price for the sender is the same until the threshold of 1kg, so it doesn't matter if it is 999g or 55g.
It is therefore more effiecient to put the same weight value when you know your products.
