I am really really keen to Jailbreak my iPhone 4 seeing as I lost the warranty and need something new and exciting done for it
Can anyone explain how to do it? I've tried google but it all goes waaaay over my head.

I'm running iOS 7.1.2, all help is appreciated.

Oh for the love of god don't use pangu.. I don't trust it. If its a 4 you can use limera1n and a patch bundle with redsn0w.

FTPing text messages shouldn't be too hard to implement since they are stored in one file in cleartext, but I assume you would want to make more advanced functions.
