So is FTID the only way for this to be refunded? I know the gist of it and that it has many flaws. Nevertheless, I highly doubt DNA will work or how I will even try to pull it off.

If it's not opened yet you could try the sealed box method? There's a much better rate of success than the FTID and doesn't require hiring someone. You able to get the box open perfectly?
If that fails then just return normally and hit somewhere else, imo
