Good to know.  Took a few months off to cool down my address and to relax but am starting up again.

Beating them at this cat and mouse game is what keeps me inspired now once the rush wears off getting multiple packages a day for a year straight.

Amazon checks every boxed return now?

For the most part, yes.

Along with Apple, they've been doing It for months.

Was this because of that guy that was literally returning packages of dirt that weighed the right amount and would sit unopened for months or years in the warehouse?

It probably contributed to Amazon's change of policy, but It's hard to say exactly what triggered It.

You did the right thing by giving SEing a break for a while.

What about this idea: buy from any store, amazon or apple or any apple products, use burner accounts to do so, open the item box carefully, remove the item, example laptop or ipad, replace something 1:1 weight, example play dough, close the original box (product box I mean), the use a plastic sealer to reseal like original, and make a return. I doubt any store would remove the original plastic seal from the original box to check, and the weight is 1:1.

What about new iphones, that come without plastic, but with paper tear up.. do they really tear it up and replace with new, original?
Somehow I doubt all the stores would do this. Or atleast all the countries. Maybe not all amazons do that? Maybe they use x-ray instead of opening?

What about ebay private shops or sellers?
Different items then apple, maybe less known to be frauded with?
What about lower valued items from amazon, thats not worth opening and checking? Like example 10x items thats worth 100e

To sum It up, Amazon and Apple check sealed box returns, Irrespective of value.

At the time of this post, unless there's Inconsistencies/signs of tampering with the box, other stores/retailers predominantly do not open returns.

Update. I bought a Samsung soundbar used on Amazon Warehouse used for $600 instead of $800 new. Thing came with only the soundbar no power bales no subwoofer no remote nothing but a soundbar in a destroyed box. I complained and showed them pictures and had UPS come pick it up a return. But I put a 8 year old Sony Soundbar in the box instead. I even talked to the UPS guy and said you carried this there's no way it weighed 62 pounds and showed him how the weight said 62 pounds and the rectangle box couldn't even fit a subwoofer

Amazon kept playing games with me saying to wait until Nov 6th. I threated I was going to dispute it with my bank and 2 days later they refunded me.

I also went to Samsung.com and said the non existent Subwoofer wouldn't power on and they are sending me a new one. Now I just need a remote and power cable for soundbar and it was a long but successful SE return.
