IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. 07-22-2014, 02:41 AM

Hello [username],
In the IT sector most of us sit on our asses all day long.
We drink coffee and energy drinks to keep us awake, we eat unhealthy because it tastes nice and its quick and probably smoke because of the stress.
My story
As a kid I've been always into sports. Done years of Muay Thai and was healthy and fit. Unfortunately around the age of 16 I stopped doing this and got a bad drinking habit (alcohol) and was eating unhealthy. I put on a lot of weight, felt unhealthy and tired all day long. I questioned myself if I wanted to really be who I was for the rest of my life. A friend of mine who was very into bodybuilding and has a awesome physique ( http://i.imgur.com/mwci48n.png ) helped me getting started. On 9 november 2013 I decided to turn my life around. I stopped drinking alcohol (It was 6 months before I drank my first beer again and haven't been overdrinking ever since) and eating bad food. I exercise 3 to 5 times a week and saw my body change drastically. I had so much motivation and had a clear vision on who I wanted to be. I met new people in the gym and felt so good! Each day I was thinking about being in the gym and working out. I believed in myself and kept on pushing myself to the max on each training.
Looks and judging
When looking at a person you automatically 'judge' them on their looks. When I see a fat person I will automatically assume that they have no discipline and are weak (EVEN THOUGH THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE STORY!). A fit person will likely be associated with discipline and perseverance.
Life
When exercising you will notice that alot of things change. Not only your body but also you will get alot more self esteem and stress management. Physical activity improves your mood and the way you feel about yourself. Exercising reduces the chance of depression and anxiety. Also your body will increase and improve blood flow to your brain making you sharper.
I hope I can motivate some of you to get started exercising and living a better life. I can assure you it will definitely be worth it. The biggest step is the first one.
I'd be ready to write some exercises if people are interested.
