IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - bluedog.tar.gz - 07-22-2014 Hello [username], In the IT sector most of us sit on our asses all day long. We drink coffee and energy drinks to keep us awake, we eat unhealthy because it tastes nice and its quick and probably smoke because of the stress. My story As a kid I've been always into sports. Done years of Muay Thai and was healthy and fit. Unfortunately around the age of 16 I stopped doing this and got a bad drinking habit (alcohol) and was eating unhealthy. I put on a lot of weight, felt unhealthy and tired all day long. I questioned myself if I wanted to really be who I was for the rest of my life. A friend of mine who was very into bodybuilding and has a awesome physique ( http://i.imgur.com/mwci48n.png ) helped me getting started. On 9 november 2013 I decided to turn my life around. I stopped drinking alcohol (It was 6 months before I drank my first beer again and haven't been overdrinking ever since) and eating bad food. I exercise 3 to 5 times a week and saw my body change drastically. I had so much motivation and had a clear vision on who I wanted to be. I met new people in the gym and felt so good! Each day I was thinking about being in the gym and working out. I believed in myself and kept on pushing myself to the max on each training. Looks and judging When looking at a person you automatically 'judge' them on their looks. When I see a fat person I will automatically assume that they have no discipline and are weak (EVEN THOUGH THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE STORY!). A fit person will likely be associated with discipline and perseverance. Life When exercising you will notice that alot of things change. Not only your body but also you will get alot more self esteem and stress management. Physical activity improves your mood and the way you feel about yourself. Exercising reduces the chance of depression and anxiety. Also your body will increase and improve blood flow to your brain making you sharper. I hope I can motivate some of you to get started exercising and living a better life. I can assure you it will definitely be worth it. The biggest step is the first one. I'd be ready to write some exercises if people are interested. "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."
RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - Spirit - 07-22-2014 I must say that I 100% agree with you. I've actually been getting more and more active lately since after seeing you do it, I figured that it was probably the right thing to do. Not only has being more physically active + healthy been making me feel better, but it really helped me deal with my temper problem. Rather than snapping on my girlfriend every time she pissed me off, I just went for an hour long run/jog. I'd actually be interested in trying out your exercises, @bluedog.tar.gz. Wouldn't it be kind of cool if a few people on HC followed your exercises and treated it almost like a group type of performance, almost as if we're in a class, and you're the teacher? RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - thewalker - 07-22-2014 I couldn't agree more in my opinion people who are scared to do what they see is right are unsuccessful in life awesome. I 50 percent agree with you on sports but instead of physical sports i do chess. RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - Ex094 - 07-22-2014 I agree Exercise does seem to relieve stress and it seems like a necessity for us IT Guys because we need something to wear off the burden of the day RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - alok9shm - 07-22-2014 I do not drink, and do not have any such habits like smoking/tobacco either. But I am too lazy. I tried to start lifting many a times but always gave up in a few weeks, due to my hectic schedule, and laziness of-course. I just cannot make up my mind to keep doing exercises. Thats the problem with me. I want to get past this, at any cost. RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - katka18 - 07-22-2014 I completely agree with you. And its a bit worse, if a girl is a bit fat because of pc.. Thats why Ive been doing exercises every evening for 2 years and its really helpful ![]() So if you can motivate someone else to change his unhealthy style, I think it would be worth it
RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - DaPaus - 07-29-2014 Since bluedog is sharing his story. I'm going to share mine too. So I guess I am your typical lazy, geeky teen who has a lot of great ideas. But somehow I can never find the motivation of doing them. I'm not really in to sport but I love pushing my body to its limits (I see my body as a vessel to achieve things in life). But I didn't really work out a lot because of a lack in motivation. Lately I had become more and more depressed. I didn't achieve anything in life and blamed it on my motivation what got me even more frustrated. It wasn't until I was playing GTA San Andreas and endlessly taping the 'X' button in the gym to give my character some buff. I really had a wtf moment, I was wasting time on some virtual gangster douche bag while I was feeling shit myself. I wanted to turn my life around. And I searched the web for help. It wasn't long before I stumbled on the NoFap subreddit. The NoFap challenge is a promise to not fap for 90 days. Why would anyone torture himself like that right? Well there are a lot of benefits I could write a whole post on it if anybody is interested and if you can't wait you can always check the subreddit. Many skeptics may thing that NoFap is a placebo or a rehab for porn addicts but it is far from. Right know I'm 8 days in the challenge. It has been hard especially because it's summer and my social media feeds are getting spammed with bikini teens. But I've a lot of extra energy and motivation. This energy is going in working out. Together with the rise of testosterone because of NoFap I'm feeling like a beast. I also started appreciating the little things more. I read a lot more and I started meditating. I'm really feeling better know. Now I only have to make it a habit and stick to it. And my future self will love me. RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - L0aD1nG - 07-30-2014 I will start exercising too soon...I was thinking about it months now (lol think and never done you know). I totally agree on everything. NOTE
At last I would like to mention that everyone that goes on gyms(I will not as I really think I can do good exercise workout on my home too) should be aware of proteins etc etc because they are unhealthy and extremely dangerous if overused.Of course I don't judge bad gyms or something like this.My note is the absolutely truth and its scientifically proved. RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change? Here's my story and view. - h3r0 - 07-30-2014 I can't help but agree. When I do nothing I feel sluggish and slow..it's pretty awful... But when I exercise things are just easier.. People should just go hike, it's great and gives you time to think. I hike, rock climb, ice climb, etc and the places I've been and the places I will go are amazing that alone is worth it. RE: IT Sector, unhealthy, time for a change?
