I get free microsoft software! #1
So my university offers free licenses and downloads for just about all Microsoft software you could imagine. Now im normally an open source person... but im taking advantage of this while i can. so today I placed an order for:

1. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 32/64-bit (English)
2. Microsoft Windows 8 Professional 32/64-bit (English)
3. Microsoft Windows Virtual PC 64-bit (Multilanguage)
4. Microsoft Visual Studio Premium 2012 32-bit (English)
5. Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 64-bit (English)
6. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Enterprise 32/64-bit (English)
7. Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 32/64-bit (Multilanguage)
8. Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise 64-bit (Multilanguage)
9. Microsoft Small Basic (English)
10. Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard - Install Disc 64-bit (English)
11. Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express (English)

All free. Gonna start with that then see what else. Theres loads more than I have no immediate use for so ill hold off for now. But this gives me a chance to play with all that ms tech ive never used before... legally and without concern of infected shit. Now i just need a decent computer to run all this stuff in VM lol

You get all these stuff in free cuz your university is registered to Dreamspark. Am I right???
This session, my college will be registered too. And then, I'll take the advantage too. Smile

ya we have the DreamSpark premium service. About the only thing i havent seen available is the entire Office suite. although parts of it seem to be like Access, Visio, etc.

So ya. I cant wait until i can play with all this stuff. im fairly experienced when it comes to opensource software/servers/networks and shit, but i have zilch when it comes to Windows Servers, Exchange, MS SQL, and all that shit. so its time to expand my horizons Smile

The only reason they don't offer office, is because they know students need office. lol
But seriously, I still got windows 7, XP, and a ton of other things from that site.

I'm almost...jealous.
But I cannot bring myself to be drug away from PinguyOS 12.04LTS.
Though Window's 7 Professional does drive a hard bargain as temptation for a dual boot scenario.

Saying we need office is like saying we need windows lol. I havent used office since i discovered openoffice like, 10 years ago? lol And i havent used windows all much in the last 6 years. So I dont buy the argument that students need office lol.

I use open office as-well, but what I mean is the general audience doesn't know about open office.
So they find themselves having to shell out the cash for office which is generally a rip off.

For instance, in the programming class I went to, everyone was bitching and complaining about the price of office, then I shown them open office...and they got mad. lolz
