but amazon support would say how could they ship an item in the wrong box, ie how can they ship a gaming pc (what I'm thinking of seing) as something else?

It's not your concern, so don't overthink It.

Errors In warehousing and manufacturing are Inevitable, and that's what makes the wrong Item received method so effective. Countless members on this board, have succeeded with the method against companies of all shapes and sizes - It pretty much speaks for Itself.

Say its a different gaming pc, they would just ask for it ti be returned surely???

In short, you'd purchase an Item from the same company (preferably belonging to the same category/department) on a different account and weighs around the same as the Item you're SEing. Also, have It sent to another address.

When they request the return, send the wrong Item. I suggest fully familiarizing yourself with the wrong Item received method.

Claim the item was damaged and try to get a refund without return.

That wouldn't work as they would just ask you to send the item back. No way you can get a refund for an item worth 1k without sending it back lol

Not the most repeatable method but I just did it recently on a $130 item. The rep wanted a standard return at first. I made a fuss about waiting 2 weeks for the item, he then offered an instant refund once the returned item was scanned. They use some 3rd party service where a driver comes to your house and directly takes the item.
I kept asking about when they would come and what if I'm not home until he gave me refund without return.
Not the most reliable method, I was going to put a older malfunctioning version of the same box and send it back at first.
I don't know if the rep would have refunded if it was a more expensive item.

I also did a missing item method today on a $9 charging cable and got a refund for an over extended Amazon prime trial. Small beans I know.
