I think you can destroy someones computer complete by causing damage to hardware.
Usually all software errors are fixable. If someone destroys your OS, you can always install it again.

Although if you make program which damages the hardware some way, then it is possible to destroy the computer.
Keep in mind that you're not going to get help from here.

Yes..

i ever saw, 2 script can make a computer cannot startup again .. . auto wipe Format. . . and make a corrupt BIOS.

I give it to my gf. she has managed to destroy 3 in the past 12 months or so. and i mean unrecoverable flaming motherboard type of destruction.

As for destroying a computer through software... not really, not easily. Theoretically it could be possible but you would need quite intimate knowledge of the hardware and operating system. For example, ive heard rumours of video cards being over heated by intensive games. Most computers have built in functions to prevent this from happening the the cpu however.

But the thing is... PC's are modular. Youre never going to be able to damaged a computer to the point that all the components are unusable. graphic card burns out? you buy a new one and your back online in a couple hours. same goes for motherboards, hard drives, etc.

You could permanently ruin an operating system and all the data, but the computer itself wouldnt be damaged. reinstallation would make the computer functional again.
