What part of this is social engineering? This is literally just theft. Why does everybody think that getting free shit by exploiting techs and getting them fired is social engineering? Maybe @Slacker wants to weigh in on this one.

Social engineering with AMD would be something closer to convincing them you're a new hw engineer and you don't have access to the models for their Epyc chips and you need them to get you a new account. Then actually getting them to do it so that you have access to the die prints. Or, in the name of getting free shit, convince them you're a new employee who handles returns and you're not able to send this item to the customer because of some perm issue. either get them to do it for you, or do real engineering and get access to do it yourself.

This used to be my sole definition of social engineering. Social engineering is so much more and the suggestions you have mentioned are actually kinda cool. I'm still skilled with the old "warranty exploitation" concept but it is definitely by no means the scope of social engineering.

I've been fed up with people passing off petty theft as "hacking" or "social engineering". Those things are arts and take skill. This shit is terrible, and if it were up to me, I'd make it against the rules to even talk about it. These sections get flooded with this crap and it hurts members who actually want to learn about social engineering. That's why I give examples on how to turn these deplorable thieves into mild social engineers.

I've offered a service to do it but not doing it for free and not doing it and calling it social engineering...

Agree, hence my comment of "In general terms" leaving some variation as to how social engineering can be utilized.
