Hi,
I'm thinking about SEing a Samsung phone (+1000€) and I would like to ask some questions.

1. Is Amazon better than buying directly from Samsung? Maybe this depends on my country?
2. What would be the best method? I think DNA is not great because in my country, the carrier that delivers stuff from Amazon always ask for a signature and I'm also worried about implicating the delivery guy. So maybe empty box. The phone is around 220g, maybe I could add a bunch of accessories or other small but heavier items and a partial empty box would be the best option?
3. Phone numbers come with an IMEI that may be blocked so is it a good idea to SE a phone that I want to use? Even if Amazon blocks the phone in the country of the store (like Germany for Amazon.de) it would probably still work on my country but this may have some implications, what do you think?

I wont go into methods but as a retailer Amazon cant block IMEI numbers. Samsung could, so i suggest you dont hit them

I believe IMEI numbers are blocked at a network-level, so neither Samsung nor Amazon can block an IMEI but they can contact a network to block the number. But I think Amazon does not bother to do it, but still worth mentioning this hoping that someone with more experience will provide more information and correct me if I'm wrong.

A signature cannot confirm the delivery was personally received by yourself.

Anyone could've signed for It- even the driver himself, which I experience on a daily basis.

Whether you add 10 Items or 100 Items, It won't make any difference.

If they Investigate, they'll simply take the weight of the phone and cross-check the carrier's records. If the consignment Is not 220 grams lighter, then the phone was enclosed.

If the IMEI Is placed In a pool of blacklisted numbers, upon attempting to activate It with a given phone carrier, It'll be Identified and the connection will be declined.

Are you closely associated with anyone at reception? Meaning, will he/she work with you during the SE?

If not and given It'll be dropped off and signed using real credentials, It will complicate the SE- due to the fact that others will be Involved and the consignment marked as delivered (via the real signature). You can opt for the wrong Item received method or depending on the packaging/box, the sealed box method will also suffice.

Alternatively, you can box them by adding a weight substitute equal to the phone. There's another method available named "the wrong Item sealed box method", whereby you claim that you opened the sealed box and It contained another Item Inside- completely different to the original. This method was personally developed, formulated and titled by me whilst writing a tutorial on my blog.

I was thinking about saying I received the wrong phone. Maybe I can buy a cheap Samsung phone in a different store and send back that phone and keep the most expensive. The reason I say another Samsung phone is that is probably easier to believe that the Amazon employee picked the wrong Samsung phone instead of a totally random product with similar weight. But the fact that it's a phone with IMEI, is it possible to trace? For example, they could check their records and confirm that they never had a phone with that IMEI in their warehouse so it would be impossible to mix it up.

If, for some reason, the phone I received was returned by another user, it would obviously work but what if they check the IMEI I received was never sent to another person? So, the mix up would have been in the supplier (Samsung) which I find hard to believe.

This Is the wrong Item received method that I stated above, which has a good chance of success when formulated effectively- similar to what you've described here.

As long as It belongs to the same department/section In the warehouse, you can still use a wrong Item other than the phone.

But the fact that it's a phone with IMEI, is it possible to trace? For example, they could check their records and confirm that they never had a phone with that IMEI in their warehouse so it would be impossible to mix it up.

This Is why you purchase It from the same company, but on a different account and sent to another address.

As such, It'll be part of their Inventory, hence they'd assume the Incorrect Item was picked, packed and dispatched.

The only thing you need to focus on, Is that you've opened the sealed box and another Item was enclosed. Whatever the reason/mix up may be, Is not your concern- you received what they've dispatched which was not what you've ordered.

In answer to your question pertaining to the manufacturer error, they happen a lot more often than you think. Without naming specifics, I experience It at work almost every week. Companies are well aware of It, but obviously do not disclose It to consumers.
