Help Me Choose #1
I know there's tons of poles and threads where people ask what the safest and most used browser is, but I'm still confused.
It seems that every other set of "results" contradicts or just downs the other.

Seems like no matter which one I use, it get's crazy.

I'd like to choose by these standards.

1. Safest (Easiest not to get hacked & browser profiles injected or w/e it's called)
2. Most used.
3. Nothing people haven't heard of.

Sticking between Chrome, Firefox, & I'll add 1 more.

Also, please comment your favorite antivirus.

I suggest firefox. I am assuming that stuff like Flash and java are uninstalled and if you plan to use chrome as your primary browser you should force disable flash in the settings. Chome I don't like but thank god they have finally changed their attitude to flash player so soon it should be disabled by default.

I highly recomend Lastpass or KeepPass if you have issues remembering your passwords(Please never store your email password on any of these as your email address is your last line of defence) use 2fa where possible then install addons such as
Noscript
https everywhere
Ghostery/Disconnect(I use both because why not)
Blur(I think this is the repacement for DoNotTrackMe)

Other addon's of note would be:
uMatrix (note I have barly touched it)
BetterPrivacy
Bloody Vikings! is god if you need to sign up to a bunch of sites that require email and don't wanna give it out.
Piigeon
AddBlockPlus

I use BitDefender free with Malwarebytes.
Either BitDefender or Avira are the top 2 for free AV's for 2016. you should only be running one of those two IMO. With malwarebytes for doing the odd scan's on the side.

note: If you wanna be a little bit more secure looking into moving to GNU/Linux would not be a bad idea Smile

I really appreciate the detailed suggestions.
1. I think I might switch back to Firefox. Chrome seems to take too much cpu up.
2. I hate having to disable flash players and such in Chrome.
3. I refuse to use a password manager, since you never know who has access.

4.(NOTE) - I'm making a username/email - pw list in notepad++ then password protecting it in a winrar file encrypted.

Do you happen to know any other measures I can take to encrypt or just protect the document I have?

I suggest that you Just run KeePass on a USB stick. Its compleatly Open Source and if you have any fears just complile it from the Source code. Its probably the best security for your passwords that you can get outside of just writing them down on a peace of paper or having them stored on a system that never goes online.

Unless you'd be willing to walk me through doing that, I wouldn't be able to figure that out.
I'm no good with encryption and open source and blah blah. Even when I watch videos I get confused.

I personally think you should just go with Firefox. It is much safer as well as very lightweight compared to chrome.

I think I might do that. Other than Adblock, do you have any other recommendations so I don't get hit by a JDB or some super spam shit or something? It seems like my Malwarebytes and/or other scanners find shit wrong with my mozilla/profiles/(etc) files.

I'm not sure you are able to block those fake spam sites, But firefox does a good job of blocking most of them. Adblock blocks most of those shitty Ads and Spams for the most part.

If you need any help or have any questions feel free to PM me
