Hello HackCommunity #1
Hi guys,

You can call me JV. I'm a guy who wants to be a good programmer or a good network specialist. Although as time passed by, I wasn't really able to do so. Time constraints and something about me personally led to so many times wasted. Well maybe because I wasn't really sure what I really wanted, as I was thinking of specializing in many things but reality is that it's just plain impossible. So as I was pondering off, I came across a note of mine which enlists every hacking notes that I've run into and just realized that this was one thing that I really really want to do. It's not really for personal gain that I want to hack but rather I want to have a deeper understanding of something and I'm thinking that this could give me the knowledge of a certain area that I ought to find interesting and that this something is what I'm searching for. Searching for a nice forum, I've come across this site and is hoping I would be able to gain knowledge here not just about ethical hacking but in other areas as well and as I gain knowledge, I hope that I would be able to share them as well.

Well, that's about me in a nutshell, or may be something like that. Anyway, I hope I didn't introduce myself in a boring manner. :Mini-Smile:

Welcome to HackCommunity, JV. I think you'll find yourself at home here. We have lots of tutorials on a wide variety of subjects (Hacking, Networking, programming, social engineering, etc). You can check out the "getting started with hacking" type posts here http://www.hackcommunity.com/Forum-From-noob-to-hacker (All of the threads marked important are rather important).

What kind of experience do you have when it comes to computers? Do you know any programming languages?

Thanks for the welcome, [h3r0].

So far I have only basic knowledge when it comes to hardware and software. Nothing deep yet really. As for programming languages, I've tried C++ and Visual Basic.NET and Visual C# although yet again, those knowledge are deep enough even to create a legit program.

Thanks for the tip as well. I've been to some parts of the forum already and found some ebooks to download. It might get me starting although to which and where do I start exactly is one probable thing that I need to figure.

I would suggest starting with procedural programming (As opposed to object oriented), preferably a C based language. That will help you get a good grasp on programming logic. Also I would look into starting a little home server, maybe a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Nothing helped me understand web servers better than running my own.

Welcome to HC. Your Introduction was better many new members who signup on this forum. Searching for deep knowledge won't get you anywhere but deciding a particular GOAL and then working hard to achieve it will give you success. if you want to be a good programmer then it should be your passion, or if you wanna know about Hacking or penetration testing, even then you need to learn programming unless you're satisfied being a Script Kiddie.

Whatever you aim for you should work hard to achieve it. At first decide your GOALS, then identify your strengths and weaknesses and find methods to overcome your weakness. If you face problems then try us, but make sure you use Google first to see if your query has already been answered or not.

Good Luck. If you stay here and wanna get yourself associated with programming then we will meet again in the programming section.

Thanks for all the warm welcome. For starter I think I will go with @h3r0 's tip on how I should start. And thanks @Psycho_Coder for the advice. It will come in handy I'm sure now that I decided to start all over but will keep as much as possible the knowledge that I've already gained as it may be of help in the near future.

Bearing the advises you guys gave, I think I just might be able to pull this one through. Thanks again.
