Hello! #1
Hey , I'm Galvanised and I like to party.

Having not used forums since my childhood, I'm glad to have found a large, general forum with lots of neat features (especially the chan/pomf). I hope to meet lots of new people here and I'm generally interested in technology and anything new and exciting. The only thing I don't understand is, why do you look down on gravedigging (or necrobumping)? Don't they stop multiple threads with the same topics from being created?

Also is there an IRC channel?

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you around. If you need help, check the rules/help docs. Biggrin

If a topic is >3 months old and someone makes a post on it, with very little to contribute to the topic, it makes the forum lower-quality and actually inhibits new discussion. We aim to keep the quality up and gravedigging to a minimum. New threads aren't a problem, as it keeps things fresh. We don't use IRC anymore, but we do use Discord: https://discord.gg/0lxqndtwlVoc2Qur

Ok sounds good. And yeah, I haven't used discord before but it seems pretty cool.

Welcome! If you ever are unsure about gravedigging or about how to reintroduce an older topic that you've seen in threads too old to post in, let me know and I am more than happy to help you bring the conversation back in a fresh way.

Hope to see you around!

In other words, If the "last post" on the topic/thread Is >3 months old and someone posts thereafter, that's considered grave digging. Provided posts are actively contributed within a 3 month time-frame, the topic can be as old as It likes.

Welcome to Sinisterly Galvanised. Hope to see you actively contributing around the forums.
Have a most pleasant stay.

This is true. We generally ignore gravedigging if the responses are high quality.
