Some awesome books to learn about social engineering come from Kevin Mitnick:
- Ghost In The Wires Story of Kevin Mitnick's adventures as the worlds most wanted hacker
- The Art of Deception Never read this one actually, but it seems like a good read

I've read "The Art of Deception", it's worth reading for social engineering.

Don't forget the Art of Intrusion (http://www.amazon.com/Art-Intrusion-Expl...0471782661)

I have read (and own) all three of his books. WORTH THE READ!

I've been wanting to get the other two books of his. Also, Kingpin by Kevin Poulsen is pretty entertaining!

I personally found the Art Of Deception to be quite intriguing and enlightening truth be told along with Ghost In The Wires rather inspiring along the lines of "not getting caught" if that makes any sense in it's simplest wording.
