I was wondering how many of you actually get yourselves organized before beginning writing a program, I think this is the first time I've tried it (known how to for years, just never bothered)

And by being organized, I mean UML diagrams, state diagrams, a sketch of a gui, if applicable ect.

I usually try to make a sample GUI in Photoshop, and a flowchart for functions.

I do plan out all of my projects in advance. Hacking away only works on small scripts. However, I haven't found any good software to do SysML or SysML-esque planning on my machine so I normally just hand-write everything out that I need to. May I ask what software you're using?

I've a set of whiteboards surrounding my workspace

I just code without any planning, I generally end up with a shitload of spaghetti code, which I later clean up.

I've only done a couple of large programs and even with lots of planning I always seem to end up with redundant bits.
