RE: Garmin SE #11
So I've been in contact with their support and I asked if i could get a refund instead and that i had purchased a replacement at a retailer for an event over the weekend. They are telling me "this is is not the process for this type of issue. You will need to return the watch you just purchased through the retailer in which you purchased for any refunds"

Could i just tell them okay and then later return the replacement i sent them? It seems as though they do not want to send me a direct refund.

Didn't you PEB/EB the watch?

Also, what relevance Is your subsequent (replacement) purchase to the Initial claim?

Can you please clarify if you already been sent out a replacement by them?
Obviously, it seems that they want you to return the watch you bought at another store in order to keep your business.
If you refer to their policy, they do not accept change of mind returns. Therefore, if I read your post correctly and are receiving a replacement watch, you must try to argue your case and get an exception to return your replacement based on how you needed it urgently and that the replacement is useless, event has passed already bla bla etc.

I replacement has not been sent out to me yet. They have only sent me a link to confirm a replacement before sending one out. I’ve checked their return/refund policy, but nowhere does it state them not accepting change of mind returns. Unless it is somewhere else I’m not looking.

If that is the case, I do not see why you shouldnt opt for a replacement, and then return it. If I may ask, what is the value of the item?

Good to know. In my opinion, get a replacement and then return the replacement

What other options do they state with returns?

this is straight from the website. seems pretty straight forward.

"Garmin.com Purchases
Please note, merchandise in its original condition may be returned for a refund within 30 days of receiving your order. Opened software, downloadable items and custom products are nonrefundable. You can start the return process online by submitting a return request.
"

The rep that im in contact with is very adamant that i provide proof of purchase from a retailer i claimed to have bought a replacement for as well as unit ID and SN. This is what their most recent response to me was

"I understand what you are saying. Sorry if I am unclear. The device you purchased from us is missing, I have have filed a case so we can investigate that on our end. In the meantime, we honor your purchase and send you a new device. However, if you want a refund, we typically wait until the investigation is complete. Have you filed a claim with UPS on your own? I will still need your proof of purchase from the new device from the retailer and the unit ID or serial number in order to see about getting a refund sent out to you. "

i feel as though they are trying to call my bluff. These watches just came out that it would be hard for me to even find them in stores or find someone where i can get the SN from.
i dont see why i would need to file a claim with UPS since the box was not tampered with. Perhaps its best i get the advance replacement and then return it?
