Single-player World-domination real-time strategy games. Not a huge fan of turn-based stuff, but Total War is pretty good.
Also city builders and single-player RPG's.

I've gotta say that I love first person shooters the most. Maybe I'm just a Call of Duty faggot, or maybe not. Either way, I love so many FPS's and they always seem to have the best experience for playing with friends, or playing online against other people. They aren't usually good for single player, but they are great for multiplayer and having fun, or pretending that you are MLG, which is always fun sometimes.

I am fond of strategy, action and fighting games. Of course, I will play any other type of game if it is entertaining and it manages to impress me.

I think open world if that counts as a genre would definately be my favourite. I also like sports games (only football - soccer to you Americans though) and racing games
