GPU WIR looking for advice (have researched) #1
Okay, so I'm thinking about doing WIR with an rtx 4070 ti from amz. I've tried to find weight and amz lists it as 4.95 pounds. I found a cpu cooler for 4.85 pounds(also according to amz). Dimensions are pretty similar. The only concern is other sources list the gpu weight anywhere from 1.8lb to 5lb. 2 other sources confirm the 4.95, however an in depth benchmarking/reviewing site listed the gpu as slightly lower at 3.3. I'm assuming they weighed only the gpu and that doesn't account for the power cables/gpu box, but 1.5lb of power cables/gpu box does sound a bit much.

Also I was gonna have my friend order gpu to an amz locker and then I order the cpu cooler to a closeby but different amz locker. The reason I was going to do this is because our addresses are about 15 mi apart and my acc/addy is flagged i'm pretty sure from previous SEs, but my friend's acc/addy is clean(never SEd amz). I imagine the gpu going to his acc/addy is less suspicious. I was trying to find 2 different lockers nearby that I could use and I noticed the package is too big for most lockers and I will have to go to a hub counter+ instead. In this case would it be better to have my friend order gpu to his residential addy and I order cooler to the counter hub near his addy? I imagine both items going to the same counter hub is not ideal.

If anyone has any advice or sees something I may have missed please let me know. I am trying to cover all bases here.

Goodness me, I'm not sifting through all that.

The WIR Is pretty simple:

1. Purchase the wrong Item from the same company on a different account
2. Be sure It's sent to another address and weighs as close as possible to the original Item
3. Contact support and tell them you've received another Item to what was originally ordered
4. They'll request the wrong Item be returned
5. Comply with their request and send It back

That's It.

Just 2 questions:
1) Do you think amz listed weights are reliable? since I found other sources providing both same and different weights.

2) Will sending one item to a counter hub closeby to a residential address for the 2nd item be better than sending to 2 residential addresses about 15 mi apart?

For the most part, yes.

Do other sources list the Item weight or the shipping/gross weight?

Same difference.

That was unclear for most sources I found. However one source that i'm certain listed item weight confirmed it at 3.3lb and I'm not sure if 1.5lb for power cables/gpu box and packaging sounds right.
Best buy lists weight at 3lb, bhphoto lists packaging weight at 4.945lb which lines up w/ amz.

@mothered I don't think I used the quote properly so not sure if it pinged you so I figured I'd tag you. If it did then sorry to ping you again.

I don't know the sources you're using, so be sure you're aware of the difference between the Item (net) weight and the shipping (gross) weight.

Just to provide an update. I ordered a gpu and a cpu cooler from random acc to nearby pickup center just to confirm weights are correct. Having done so I returned both gpu and cpu cooler legit and am going to proceed with actual se attempt using my regular main acc and friends acc.
