Start over and SE a given company directly.
When you start dealing with ex-amount of entities (as with this case), It complicates the SE, which Is not good practice.
Let me get this straight, you want me to refund a company without mentioning I purchased there product of Amazon? If that's the case they will ask for some kind of POP and that would put me back at square one.
Do you honestly believe that Amazon Is the only entity to SE? When SEing, you need to adapt to changes, work around the obvious, question assumptions and be prepared to take on "any" company at your disposal. I'll make this nice and simple for you. I realize you don't want to spend a dime, but SEing requires flexibility.
Quote: when they replied they were happy to send out a replacement, but only after they get my Amazon online order product number.
As per the above, your SE Is complete. Either purchase the Item and provide the order number/POP (and obtain the replacement), or do the following for a refund.
Purchase a product "In-store" from your local supermarket, return the very same day at the service desk, and ask to speak with the manager. Tell him/her, that you're feeling extremely sick Immediately after consumption and "demand" a refund. You can take It one step further and get a doctor's certificate In support of your claim. On these grounds and In compliance with heath & safety, a refund will be Issued.
I've performed this countless times throughout my 30+ years of circumventing the human firewall- all without fail.
