I've read Ender's Game and some excerpts of 1984. I'd recommend 1984.

I recall reading 1984 as part of an assignment back In high school, and must say that It's well worth It.

You won't be disappointed.

Ender's game was pretty great, and I recommend reading both, however start with 1984. I also saw Brave New World mentioned above, and its a great mention too.

Another great addition to the list of to read is Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. It really changed my life and it is freely available as an ebook.

It's hard to compare the two since they're both different literary genres, but reading both Ender's Game and 1984, I'd recommend 1984 just because some of the concepts and themes throughout the book are still talked about and discussed even today (doublespeak, etc.)

Ender's Game is also great, mostly because you forget that even through all the violence and mature things that happen and go on inside the protagonist's head, he's still an adolescent/teenage boy who deals with puberty, fitting in, and so on. Definitely give it a read afterwards, too.

1984 is really great! But ender's game is also really good, i personally prefer ender's game though.
