Empty box method outdated? #1
So I used to be in this space years ago and most I did was a $2k order that was months old on the account (not mine) and the empty box method worked just fine. I was always told to call them instead of chatting to make it more believable. I stopped doing this as I am a grown ass adult now and have a job but recently got into financial troubles and want to do a 3-4k MacBook. The reason I'm aiming for such a high price is because my amazon account is 5+ years old and my most recent (legit) orders was like 3 PS5 digital and 3 PS5 physical orders from when they first launched. (No I wasn't even reselling them, just hooking up my tech illiterate friends for retail price).

I am asking this because its been years since I used to be in this space and the fourm I used to browse SE.net is no longer active looks like so I made an account here and I always see 3 main methods, Sealed box method, DNA, FTID. Back in the day "my box was empty" was all that was needed. Does this method not work anymore? I barely see it mentioned.

Oh and also using .ca version.

Thanks.

The EB/missing Item method, Is often used and discussed by SE'ers on this board. When formulated accordingly, It has a very good success rate.

Sorry to tag you, I’m pretty new here and the quote button doesn’t seem to work on iPhone.

Appreciate the response.

Do you think it would be stupid to do a 3 or 4 thousand dollar MacBook from Canadian Amazon on an account that’s had its first order in 2013 and most recent one was Nov 2020 which was 3 PS5’s? I only refunded one item on that account which was a $500 CPU in 2017. Thoughts?

All good, no problem at all.

Your account Is In very good standing, without any signs of unusual spending/return patterns.

The SE can certainly be performed, but given the value of the MacBook and the last transaction dated over a year ago, I suggest making a legit purchase prior to the SE. What method do you have In mind?

TBH probably empty box method, I always used that one and it had the highest success rate (but its the only method I used and know, I haven't tried any others).

So I would get my package, I would wait until its the evening or late evening to call (I believe calling has higher success rate than chat), and the reason for waiting until the evening is so there's a chance that my call would be picked up by an Indian in one of those call centres amazon hires (I don't know if this is actually true I just heard it once and it makes sense) but the Indians are less likely to give a shit so thats why call at night.

Depending on how the amazon refund goes I would then hit Walmart, Best Buy, and London Drugs (Canadian company) because I also have placed ps5 orders on there.

Thoughts? How would you go about doing it?

The MacBook Is way too heavy for the EB/missing Item method, namely when an Investigation Is opened and the consignment's weight Is cross-checked.

The DNA (non-OTP delivery), sealed box and the wrong Item received method are all well-suited.

Good thinking.

Whats the non-OTP delivery mean? Also I never really liked using the "did not arrive" method because it seems to take the longest to get a refund and you may get asked to file a police report (which I heard you SHOULD fill one out since its not a big deal) but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

Wrong item received may be the way to go. I just looked up on my local classifieds for old broken laptops for parts and can get one for $50, then I need to find an empty MacBook Pro box correct? But I am afraid that 99% of laptops won't fit in the box since MacBooks are very skinny, like one of a kind skinny.

A one-time password not required to receive/accept the package.

The nature of the DNA triggers an Investigation, which (In most cases) leads to filing a PR - that's only required to move forward with the claim.

It's best to purchase the wrong Item from the same company, but on a different account and change every Identifiable detail.

Like using a friends Amazon account?

Which method would you personally use for this?

Thanks for the responses.

Correct.

In terms of a MacBook and on the grounds an OTP will be required on delivery (which excludes the DNA), the sealed box method and obviously what we're currently discussing - the wrong Item received.
