A Skype group currently wouldn't be the best idea. When the site gets more members maybe it would work out.

Personally I feel a Forum wide skype group impacts smaller forum growth a ton. But usergroup focused skype groups or Staff groups make sense to me.

I think a skype group can help the forum a bit. It gets the community interacting with eachother causing teamwork on ideas for the forum

In my opinion Skype groups are the next step in growing your relationship with friends you meet on forums. I don't think it necessarily cuts activity becuase usually it is just a small group of friends that are on the forums that you are talking to. So you still have the majority of the forum users still out there and you will still be conversating and contributing in threads with them.

that is true. but Skype also allows us to chat back and forth much faster
