Right some of yous may disagree with what I do here but my reasons are justified.

I purchased an item from an Indian company it seems.
Purchased a vape in which I paid £15 extra to get the item delivered by royal mail special delivery
I have now paid £75 in total.

He has sent me tracking information that my item is with hermes so I was like okay must be special delivery through hermes.

It turns out that it's not special delivery but a matter of fact just a standard delivery which means now that my parcel is going to be delivered on friday next week because he didn't give them the parcel in time for Easter.

He has now taken and kept unwarranted money and was wondering if I made a claim against him that I didn't receive my item would they come to my door?

The guy that I purchased from refused to give me back my payment for the special delivery.

Would hermes investigate and come to the door? It says signature is required so I think I'm gonna use a false signature

For a £65 item + £10 shipping I doubt they would open an investigation unless your address has a history of 'not receiving orders'.

Nah for Hermes I've never opened an investigation for my address. On Ebay I've only ever done it's about 5 times but that was for legit reasons.

Amazon has never delivered via hermes so my address is clean in terms of deliveries from Hermes

I've decided to avoid the DNA method. As I didn't particularly fancy hermes coming to the door. I've decided the best method would be to use the damaged item. I noticed that when I recieved my parcel today. It came with the device with two lithium batteries.

I have now spoken to ebay and opened the case claiming that the batteries are defective and damaged.
Due to the nature of the batteries, they can't legally be shipped therefore I wouldn't need to return the item as it came as a package. And now just need to wait until the 2nd of May and then I'll ask ebay for a full refund.

Think this was the best way forward

What exactly is DNA? I'm a bit new to this particular scene

DNA means the item did not arrive.
So when you make a claim saying your item didn't arrive or you do not hold possesion of the item then you are entitled to a full refund
