These gadgets are getting too high tech for me....

Funnily enough I managed to speak to a supervisor who skipped the troubleshooting steps and promised a replacement IF I can provide the information registered to it.
They probably know what I am trying to do but were convinced that I won't be able to find the information.

Do you have the monitor itself or just the sevice tag?

Just the serial number which gave me service tag and the other code. But I was asked to write the name registered to the monitor on a piece of paper and put it next to the sticker which shows the service tag and the other info.

I pulled the info off the marketplace so I don't really know what name is was registered to. I contacted the ad owner so who knows, he might reply

I had the same situation that monitor was registered to someone else's but it was off. I said, that I bought it from someone. Rep told me to contact that guy to unregister product. There was not any other way I guess, I had to leave this product.
After that incident, I have started registering products to myself (account) before I start next SE. Of course you need whole sticker where you can find all details they ask for and photoshop skills.

If I can somehow get ahold of the guy's full name, it could work. I found a sticker of the same model of monitor on ebay and I have all the codes.
The biggest problem then would be manufacture date and MAC address.

So yeah I guess it is a very long shot...

It was a failed.

It would be best to find a s/n of a brand new monitor so it won't be online or being registered to someone else.

I'm in the process of this, but I used a display at a local store. I didn't even bother with Photoshop on anything except the receipt, I went into the store with a piece of paper and took the requested picture of the back. I did register the monitor to my fake persona, if that's worth noting. I'm still working on it but I will keep everyone updated.

So I’ve run into an issue. I made a fake invoice for Best Buy, but they keep telling me the invoice is not valid and they’re unable to verify it. I’m not sure where to go, is this dead in the water? I might give up on this and try on a different SN.

Personally that's where I stop unless I sense that somehow they are still sway-able.
