I'm just curious, do these retailers have access to see if the SN has been activated and in use?

It really depends on the item and who it is your buying from.
Ps5 bought directly from Sony tend to be blacklisted from online features, but if you buy from a retailer like Currys, Bestbuy etc. there's a lower chance of getting blacklisted but still possible.
Iphones bought from Amazon Uk tend to be blacklisted as well as of late, so it really just depends on the product.

@mothered @BetterThings2 sorry for the late reply, i had totally forgot about this article lol. But after i sent that last statement i never heard back and hopefully i wont do in the future!!! Its been a while so im guessing they realised their mistake and gave up… thanks for your help

I bet they realised they screwed up and decided to drop the issue.
Got too many methods, I don't know which one to use today.
