The entire contents, box & Item, Is too heavy. That's on the grounds that an Investigation Is opened with the carrier, and the weight Is cross-checked against their manifest.
Understood, if they were to cross-check, would that invalidate my claim? The only item in the box was the SSD, so couldn't I claim that the box was just filled with the air packs and nothing else?

No SE Is guaranteed to work 100% of the time.
Given the nature of the Item and the method used, what I can say Is that It has a very good chance of success.

It should also contain a USB cable and possibly a user manual and driver disc.
The objective Is to simply say that upon opening the box, the SSD was missing. Do not elaborate any further- let them ask questions, and you can hammer them thereafter.

Ahhhh, as in the box of the SSD? That makes sense, what are some questions they ask for claims like these?

Given every SE Is taken on a case-by-case basis, It's difficult to generalize.
They'll most likely open an Investigation and (If need be), request Information based on their findings.

Got it. I was filing a DNA claim with the Amazon chat assistant and it recommended that I wait until the 30th for my order to show up, if it hasn't already. Frankly, I believe this is ridiculous but I've never done a DNA before, should I wait or should I just speak to an actual rep and get another one sent sooner? It's been about a whole day already

It's standard procedure to wait In case the delivery turns up.
Although logs are kept of every claim conversation, It won't hurt to speak with a rep.

I'll wait until tomorrow to contact an actual rep, seems more likely they'll send one a day earlier if I wait an extra day.

Ultimately, It's your call.
As you're aware, SEing requires a lot of patience and the need to wait Is sometimes Inevitable, but by no means does It have a negative Impact on your claim. It simply means that It'll take a little longer to process.

Yeah, took your advice and just waited until today. Talked with a rep and she agreed to send in a replacement SSD. I'll update you on the missing item progress once the replacement arrives as well. Is there a time frame I should be vary of pertaining to the missing item? Like waiting a full day before reporting or does it not matter?

Yet another successful outcome- that's what I like to read, well done.
We shall await further developments.

There are no hard and fast rules but from a logical standpoint, anyone who receives their delivery will open It there and then, and not leave It lying around for a few days.
In answer to your question, It makes perfect sense to contact the rep/agent on the day. If It were the DNA, then that's totally different- you're not supposed to know that the package arrived, so you'd (seemingly) wait all day for the driver and call the company the day after at the earliest.
