In the beginning, I felt much the same way.

There's only one brand and type of coffee I like, and It took quite a bit of trial and error to finally get It right. If that brand ceases production, so too will my Intake for coffee.

I can make coffee pretty tolerable with a decent amount of sugar and milk, but any other way isn't too great, that's all.

This is a person who really needs to invest in a coffee maker. Preferably one with WiFi so you can assign coffee to a hotkey.
