CodeAcademy is great, but the PHP course is WAY too short.

I honestly wouldn't recommend it, it doesn't go in detail at all with some courses such as php and python.

If you plan on learning html or css, codecademy would be fine.

I actually really like the python course. It should be supplemented with traditional learning (like anything), but its a very good foundation.

imho the best way to learn theory about a language is a book written by a real pro, and then get experience by practicing everything.

I prefer to learn languages by getting my hands dirty with a project or some script or code to tear apart. Anything abstract or out of a book is too boring to keep my attention.

I think codecademy provides a good introduction to the concepts of programming but the quality of the content for each language varies greatly. The python course has many broken or glitchy lessons. Javascript and html/css work nicely and are fairly educational in my opinion.

I enjoy codecademy, and have completed a couple of courses on there. I believe the ones in Javascript and python are quite useful.

i like codeacademy aswell.
i dislike the bugs they have with PHP though,
sometimes they make you like refresh the page 5 times, before it actually works.
but other then that a great site to boost your knowledge.

I thought Codecademy was alright, I mean, the points were motivating(ish).

It's pretty inovative in many ways. Takes the whole process of learning to a whole new level. In my opinion it is better to learn this way; versus books, videos or other media.
I would love to see more from them! Sites like this are very inspiring. Just consider the work they put into the whole process; it must have been very painstaking.
