Changing the name at our door phone #1
I was thinking about a thing this morning.

We can receive package to ours addresses with a fake receiving name.

Since:
  • Couriers never ever asked me to show my ID, thus I could be whomever is written on the plate on the door phone to them.
  • If the package was supposed to be delivered to a female, and I am male, you can always say: "She is my friend/mother/sister, I will take it and give her when she is at home."
  • If somebody asked me something I could say that one of my friend come to visit my for some days, and they had to receive a package, thus I added their name on my door phone.

In this way I could:
  • Receive shipments of aged accounts (thus high success rate) owned by somebody else, It would be enough to say them "I am on vacation, ship the package there."
  • Hide my real name. (of course you could do this if you are just moved away)

What do you think?

It is possible of course, though you would likely want to use different payment method and name for those accounts so they are not linked to you in the future. Assuming you can make a small change to your address and still receive the parcel then you would be even better off.

As such, a package that's marked as delivered, does not deem that It was personally received by the account holder, nor a household member at the premises.

This is true from the point of view of the company. Forgive me, but it's not true from the courier point of view.

If the courier:
  • Ring the doorbell.
  • Saw somebody went out from the main door.
  • That somebody answer "Yes" to the courier question "Are you Mr..." (just in case they ask it to you).
  • Open the gate to the courier.
  • Get the package.
  • Get again inside home

It's 100% sure that it's your words against the courier. And of course the company will be in your favour. But you can't say that these behaviours could have done by a passant or somebody else and not the owner if the courier in second place will ever come back to your house later (under request of the company).

You've formulated a scenario that will not chronologically happen with the events described. It's not good practice to predict a series of events, without having solid grounds to base your thoughts.

Of course, it's all about that If, but could you please clarify your point. I'm not sure about what you mean.
Thanks.

In other words and simply put, what you've said will not happen In the exact same circumstances. It's clearly demonstrated as such, with the title of: "What 'If' the courier". "If" Is a supposition that speaks for Itself and supports my statement.

"Preparing" your SE Is one thing, "predicting" unlikely events (as a whole), Is something else- which as said Is not good practice.

It's not about being pessimist. What I have just describes happens something to me.
Some other times I just open the door and keep the package without confirming my ID, sometimes I just don't open the door and get the package once the courier has left and can't seem me.
Do you think I am using the wrong approach with the courier?

Btw: I always consider the possible outcome (realism) and not the worst cases (pessimism).

^ This Is what I'm referring to- the different turn of events that can and do happen with variation.

Not at all, you're thinking of possibilities that will help the SE- should the events eventuate.

But completing a scenario (with so many events), may never happen In the exact same sequence. Every, and I mean "every" SE must be taken one step at a time. When Issues come to hand, deal with It then rather than dealing with It (to no avail) before the SE has the chance to begin.

I'm still struggling to understand how I could use DNA after having shown up myself to the courier after that they rang my doorbell and made fake a signature (a scribble).

In the best case: the company won't be bothered by this and they will issue a refund.
In the worst case: they will say: "We will send the same courier who did the delivery back to you to understand what wend bad."

//assuming that the courier may remember you and remember your home since in small cities couriers are divided by zones and each courier cover a zone. So holidays excepted, 365 days for the year the courier of that specific company will be the same, thus the probability that they remember you increase.//

In the worst-case what a good SE would do?
