So basically I'm writing the CMS for my site, which as it stands is going pretty well, it seemed easier for me to change it to how I want it to work if I wrote it myself and just updated it gradually with the site.

So my question is, would it be better to write the forum myself aswell or should I attempt to integrate MYBB with my site which I think would take more time but be more difficult. I'd also learn less just by using MYBB

Just wondering what everyone thinks :glasses:

You'll learn a lot by attempting to write a CMS/forum, but I doubt it'll be at all very functional. Sure, write them if your main intention is learning, but if you're going for functionality, use WP/MyBB.

For the most part I'm working towards something which is very basic, it doesn't need to work perfectly immediately as I'm just writing it on my localhost.
Although I love MYBB, I can't stand wordpress and trying to bridge the too of them is annoying.
Which is a problem I'm facing now, but I'm more inclined to want to write it myself, gain the experience and have created something with only the functionality I require no excess.

There are alternatives to WP such as Joomla etc, but since it's only a localhost project, why not give it a shot yourself?
