CCTV when packing an order #1
Does anyone have any advice for figuring out wether a certain company uses CCTV to record every order that is packed and shipped from them? As I find this is one of the biggest uncertainties when utilizing the "wrong item received" method. For example Scan and overclockers (UK computer companies) use CCTV and keep these recordings for a certain time.

I suppose it would be possible to make a very low value order to an alternate name and address and test the required company. Or perhaps. I have thought about somehow emailing the company and point blank asking, but I doubt this would be successful. Unless you had some kind of very specific email...

Thanks for any suggestions.

Exactly this ^

With every SE, when In doubt, simply perform a test run.

The only thing I'm worried about is them cross referencing orders / details for whatever reason and noticing I used one or more of the following: name, email, address, card number, phone number, account etc.

Then again they are all easy to forge, bar address and debit / credit card that isn't tied to you in anyway. I suppose I could get a friend to do it / pay them for this.

Simply change all Identifiable details, or use a friend's or family member's account.

It's a really bad chore.

Technically to be safe you would have to use different:
-IP
-browser, resolution, etc.
-name and surname
-credit card
-shipping address

for each account, i.e. 3 accounts.

First for testing, and then 2 different accounts for performing the SE.

I'm not a fan of using a friend's or family member's details for such kind of test run. After all, you will be trying to SE them with a high chance of failure (because you're testing things). Doing it in the name of someone close to you - likely without making them aware - is a line I am hesitant to cross.

Using fake/different details is all reasonably straightforward except for the payment details (in the UK). Sure, you can buy/SE fake PayPal accounts and perhaps even bank accounts, but especially in the latter case you're walking down a path that might lead to serious repercussions. I wish we had more privacy-focused payment options here...

It's a crime, and not a light one (at least in my country).

I know, things are more easy with site like Privacy.com...
Meanwhile we have to "work" with the things we have.
