Bulbman without light #1
Hi Sinister.
I'm Bulbman, a XX year old member of the internet.
I come here to see what's up, sell some nice stuff and write guides.

I've been out for a while, but I'm back. My plan is to make some simple guides for people to stay safe and anonymous.
I like:
VIM, Coke and mountains
I dislike
NANO, a stupid network admin, 16 digit paswords

Welcome to Sinisterly bulbman.

On the topic of passwords, a lot of users are under the assumption that the longer the password, the better. However, If It's complexity Is not formatted correctly, It's not the case at all. I could have a keyboard sequential 16 character password, all In lower case running from left to right without variation. I could then create a "much" stronger password based on only 5 characters with a complexity requirement of one lower and one upper case letter, a number, and two special characters- with no two special chars allowed In the same order.

On topic, hope you have a most pleasant stay.
Enjoy.

This is the jist of it. But longer passwords are by definition harder to brute force. Thus making them harder to crack without a good dictionary.
That was kinda what I was going for. I know complexity is a big factor.

Provided some form of complexity Is Involved, then yes.

But to generalize the statement of "longer passwords are by definition harder to bruteforce", Is not accurate In It's entirety. A 10 character password of: aaaaaaaaaa that's defined In my word list, can be cracked within seconds.

That is exactly what i said. but you will not have nearly as many 16 digit passwords in your dictionary as you will have 10 digit ones. There are just orders of magnitude more 16 digit passwords.

I understand what you're saying and do agree.

With myself, I have a couple of separate word lists- one up to 8 chars and the other from 9 to 16. I run both simultaneously on separate systems, thereby speeds up the search query.
