Have downloaded it but have not tried it yet. I like that arch itself is tiny and a real smooth runner; so all the power is going straight to the apps and services for the pentest !

Just checked up on the tool list and gave it a trial run
Firstly there are A-LOT of tools on this, and their little niggly ones that work, not the big heavy showboat ones you usually see on kali.
has extensive android toolsets, fuzzing, wifi testing , web testing, loads of bluetooth/near field communication apps, and the usual heavies MSF + Evilgrade etc
yes there are dnsmap and smbmap where Nmap would do the trick;  and it has a milllion googledork tools
but mostly there are no duplicate programs.
 
the desktop looks cool but is terrible.... soooo terrible.. would not want to learn to Pentesting on this Desktop
Is empty apart from over-populated right click menus that fill the screen

It also has Security for itself which is rare in these distros snort, artillery, arpcop like tools

There are NO open ports or running services at startup and it runs crazy fast!

Just awesome. From your description BlackArch literarily gives you full control over what you do and makes no assumptions, extends its tool set beyond beyond cloud domain based cracking(which in such other distro like kali is its primary focus) to include other areas*. All services disabled to allow you choose which one you need running. This is neat, I wich the guys who said the *code is ugly/messy* could really detail in on what they mean. For the environment, I guess switching to another DE/WM, say like Mate/Awesome (and improve things) or KDE/i3 and still improve things, or GNOME and its shell extensions Could help. Anywhere Desktop environments has always been noise for me. Been a native of the NetBSD OS I have live all my digital life on the console and don't ever think i'll change(except when I need to surf the web).

i have mostly been using headless vm's with vncserver, lxde-core & openbox.
without all the pre installed desktop apps ,audio ,wifi drivers etc etc it runs with a very small footprint and i feel would go well on this Arch.

Although the flex desktop could be extended through the configs to add startmenu like items i think it uses openbox too
experience from some old maemo OS's

apt-get install links mc nmap unzip git is my usual first line in any of my VM's

but am baffled by BSD; am deb-based junky. Have DL'd Ghost BSD (openBSD with lxde desktop) so hopefully it will change
