Best strategy for GPU return on Amazon #1
Hello,

I've used the search function to find some advice but nothing was really fitting my situation or answering all my questions.

I'm an Amazon Prime user with years of good orders, a few returns (legitimate ones) and a few big buys. I'd like to ask a refund for a high end GPU that I'll receive soon.

I've identified three methods :
1) say you never received anything
2) return the old gpu in the box of the new one
3) return the old gpu in the box of the old one

I can't do 1) because they'll ask for a signature where I live. 3) doesn't seem like it could realitically work except if you have a relatively new GPU with a new box, which I don't. 2) thus seems like the best option. Do you guys agree?

Also, what's the best way to do it? Use the "received the wrong item" option even though it's the right box (that seems weird but you could argue that someone swapped the gpus at some point)? or is another option better suited for this case.

If there is another strategy I missed please do tell Smile

Thanks

2 or 3 would work well if you purchased the new gpu from amazon warehouse deals. They ship wrong items fairly often so that would be reasonable.

Thanks for the reply. Sadly it's not a warehouse deal :/. However from what I've seen from unboxings, GPU boxes are not sealed so anyone could just swap the GPUs and no one would now.

I'm leaning towards the whole claiming I received the wrong gpu and calling them to act as outraged as possible. I don't see any way for them to actually make sure that the GPU that arrives at my door is the right one. Am I missing something?

what i do when i wanna refund a big ticket item is buy a cheap item sold by amazon (NO THIRD PARTY SELLERS) for example a pocket knife and make sure the expensive item is in the same box as the knife and when the box comes in simply wait until 8-9 oclock to speak to someone from a call center outside of the united states and say the knife came in but the expensive item (in your case the GPU) was not in the package. dont worry about the weight of the package they almost never check or care about that. ive done this many times this works for me 99% of the time

Thanks for that, you think I could do that with an Xbox one x? The box would be pretty big so I don’t know if getting a smaller item would work seeing it’ll be in a big box for both of the items like a pocket knife

You should have a look at this thread, I explain in that how you might find the answer you need. Within that thread is a link to this thread, which seems to be exactly what you are asking for. In the future, please search around before asking a question.

Got an update for us?
I'm also interested in your second mentioned method but from Amazon Warehouse Deals.
Old GPU looks similar but not identical to new one. Someone mentioned in another thread that it's a huge red flag.
Does anyone know wether this also applies to Warehouse Deals?
