did you try the compat wireless package? What chipset does your WiFi use? BackTrack 4 doesn't support N adapters yet, back track 5 should, so if you can wait less then month until its out Smile

This is what people with same problem has to do!

Quote:uname -a

Check that kernel version..If it is less than 2.6.35.8 then..ur good to go because..
ur problem will be solved right now!

That kernel version detects N - series....

To update kernal version follow this official guide..
http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/index.php/Upgrading

That must do all well...

I got no problem in that and now my wireless is detected...
Thanx to all for ur contributions...thank u Smile

Well!!
The problem I got using VMWARE or VIRTUALBOX is that...My network is not identified with that!
I mean...I used NAT to access to WWW....
Now if I sniff the network...Their private IP's (virtual ones) get sniffed...and I cant use BT for my network!
That is why I installed on my lappy and gave it a try...
Biggrin

did you try to bridge it? my understanding NAT puts it in a virtual "router type" of deal with new private ips but if u use bridge mode it should copy ur actual card and use ur ip and see other ips on the network?

I don't get it why the people go for Backtrack first when they even do not have basic knowledge on nix(linux/unix) platform. Learn the basic first on how to operate linux then go for Backtrack!
