They escalated the claim, reviewed & assessed It and responded - all within 4 hours? I doubt It was escalated to begin with.
What was their exact reply?

“I am sorry to say that we need a police report to take further actions. There is no other option.”
I also don’t think it was ever escalated, but I am a newbie to SE and really have no idea what to say in these situations

Did you mention the following details at the time of the escalation?
Quote:the PR cannot be provided for reason that the police Is unable to Issue a report for an Incident that's not theft-related.

Yes, very clearly, but unfortunately they were still adamant I submit a police report

The purpose of your escalation, Is because the PR cannot be provided for reason that the police Is unable to Issue a report for an Incident that's not theft-related.
I cannot fathom why the reps fail to understand something so simple.
After escalating the case, the agent still said i needed a police report, and said that they could not do anything else. Any suggestions?
Which email addressing are you communicating with?

Generally with our forum, I figured this went without saying. However, recent discussion has led me to believe otherwise. People are encouraged to read and follow our rules, especially those regarding illegal content. You have been warned - @

I’ve been using live chat, but judging by your message I’m guessing I should be using email? And if so where should I email? Thanks

Usually when they "escalate" something, it's a department that doesn't use live chat or call that gets back to you about your issue.
Try Jeff@
Amazon.com and see what they say, that should get you to higher support.

All this time I thought you were communicating via email.
Don't use chat when escalating claims. Shoot off an email to every department until your Issue has been attended to.

Thanks for your advice, I sent them an email but unfortunately I never received a reply

Sorry, this is completely my bad. At least I know for the future, thank you
Anyhow, I got my friend to file the police report since the order was in his name, and earlier today I submitted it. Hopefully everything goes smoothly now. How long should I expect to wait before receiving an email back from Amazon?

It's a typical response from Amazon's representatives, most of whom fail to use common sense with claims that are clearly not associated with theft.
Did you use real or fake details on the account?
Can I ask why it would matter to file a police report under a fake name as it can be done online? Also I’d like to know would they even realise if you give a fake police reference number?
