I never tried the empty box method though. By empty box, do you mean leaving the game box empty or the package empty?

The game box.

It will give the Impression that you've actually shipped the game (obviously you'll do nothing of the sort), but It was tampered with during transit, hence they'll receive an empty box. Be sure to make a small tear on the box & package and cover It with tape. This will be consistent with tampering.
