In the process of EB method on bol.com airpods, they told me they would forward the information to DHL which could take 4-5 days. Is this normal procedure? What would your guys guess be the outcome of this?

They also told me to take a picture of the empty box? very weird imo

comply with their request and give them a picture of the empty box ? as i see from your description it's a pretty normal series of events .

yeah i already sent them the picture of the empty box but i just think its very weird to take a picture of nothing

They've opened an external Investigation which Is part of their assessment, hence It's perfectly fine.
