Wasn't necessarily an intentional SE, but the owners were recording his entire stay at their rental. Contract with Airbnb explicitly stated they wouldn't be recording inside or outside the Airbnb. It was a HUGE invasion of privacy, so Airbnb initiated a full refund.

I had the same experience - AirBnb host had cameras throughout their place. Reported to Airbnb and got full refund.

Wouldn't recommend this for SE purposes though, it will get the hosts banned from the platform.
What proof did airbnb ask? Do you think i can put my own cameras and say they were already there

There'd be many people reporting the same experience, so I'd say It's just a matter of time before they remove their cameras, or place them where It doesn't affect one's privacy.

They asked for photos.

Like I said, imo it's not fair to the hosts of the Airbnb to do this - just like you wouldn't SE a small family owned store.

While I certainly agree, they shouldn't Invade one's privacy with cameras that's purely against their policy.

Yeah it is fair game if there actually is cameras. 'dagaggg' suggested planting their own cameras to get refund

It does work (I've personally succeeded a while back), but as said, It takes a lot of time and effort to manipulate the rep to believe your side of the story.

How are you planning to execute It?
Basically in the summer im tryna get hotels and just chill with my friends and i think this method would work perfect for me as i wont be staying the night at the hotel so whenever im ready to leave i would just piss on the bed sheets or whatever and then dry it out with like a hair dryer or something and then go and report it and then say i cant sleep here i need a refund right now and i will be reporting it to the health services or whatever it is ( ofc i will research before doing this but i think this has a really high chance of working!)
i was searching some SEingmethod for that reason too,can you keep me updated if you find a good method to get refunded?
I see a couple old threads but they’re old

RE: Airbnb Method #18
I rented an airbnb for 3 months once and had to change my credit card due to fraud during the stay. I completely forgot it was connected to the account and only ended up paying for the first month.
The host wasn't at the property though so I'm assuming they never checked or were too busy to notice because I never heard a word about it.
Also the house was being being sold so that probably had something to do with it

I dont see airbnb as a great se opportunity, though, its too local

Now if you go through a 3rd party like booking.com you can manipulate their customer service people more easily and at least get credits in some cases.

damn but you’re is just a rare case i think. and this wouldn’t work not even with a vcc since i’ll prolly book for 1/2week nothing more.
so you’re telling me is just about talking with hotel/apartment host or booking right?
i see some people say to bring insects and take pics to win dispute for refund but idk

Yeah its a rare case, for month+ stays you pay 1 month up front and then month to month. They would catch on if you cancel midway.

I noticed booking.com has some airbnb listings, I haven't booked an airbnb through them but they are better to deal with customer service wise. They will at least give you credits and free stays if you have issues.
