I want to go to Thailand next summer hopefully to train, before that, I can't wait for nightclubs to reopen and festivals to be on.

My hours have been significantly reduced at work.

Although I'm getting paid by the government for self-Isolation/quarantine, It'll be nice to go back to normal duties.

As long as government pay you stay home. hahah

Yes, I'm getting paid a good amount- 700$ (after tax) per week for the next 5 months.

Whether I work one hour, one day or not at all, I still get the said amount.

Wow! That's actually impressive. What I get in a month (post tax, and at the govs 80% salary), is what you get in a mere couple of weeks. Of course, cost of living could be higher for yourself (though I doubt it).

I was very surprised when I first received It. I expected a lot less.

In terms of cost of living, depending on what I need to pay for, It's not too bad at all. It could be a lot worse. The way my pay Is structured, Is pretty simple- the government pays my employer and he forwards It to my bank account. As such, my work does not lose a single dime.

Ours works similarly. Over 90% of our company is on furlough, and the government is paying our company 80% of everyone's wages, which is then forwarded to our bank accounts on the usual payroll dates. Luckily, my company was purchased by new owners, resulting in invoice financing. This means we are able to borrow a sum of money from the bank to pay some of our suppliers, while we wait to be paid by our clients. If we had been owned by the previous company, we most likely would have been written off back in March.

Sounds like you're structured In a very similar fashion to mine.

You're very lucky with this:
Quote:my company was purchased by new owners, resulting in invoice financing.

After the 5 month period Is over for me, I don't know what to expect. My work appears to be slowly Improving their financial state, but to what capacity and whether they can afford to pay their workers without government assistance, remains to be seen.

I believe we are currently hoping for a return come the summer months, which is our busiest time of year. However, many of our suppliers have put our accounts on hold until we can pay them. While we're able to release a few payments here and there, we can't afford to pay everyone, as we aren't being paid ourselves. Cashflow is still everything.

I fully understand what you're saying. COVID-19 has crippled the finances of many businesses, some of which have gone Into voluntary administration.

Thankfully, my work Is still operating with a skeleton crew- both In the office department and the warehouse. I've actually been called In to work a 10-hour shift tomorrow, which Is a good sign. At least It's still In business to some capacity.
