Advice for refunding GPU on amazon. #1
Couple of questions regarding an RTX 3080, £1,558. Not sure if I can post links, but here goes: amazon.co.uk/Gainward-Graphique-Nvidia-GeForce-Phantom/dp/B09M6ZC3QR/ref=sr_1_19?crid=334WFTV7VAX9J&keywords=3080&qid=1644485005&sprefix=3080ti%2Caps%2C75&sr=8-19

Sold by Amazon and Fulfilled by Amazon, so theres a good chance I get away with something like the sealed box method?

Any other methods anyone would suggest I look into?

It's quite expensive, and I'm not aware of any extra checks amazon may do for higher value items. Does anyone know? Maybe I'd be better off trying something under £1k?

I can pay for it outright, but under the circumstance that the SE fails, I'd prefer to use the Barclays monthly option at checkout. How does this affect the SE, does it make things more complicated? If so, I will just pay outright.

New to this so please be kind!

Can the GPU be viewed externally without opening the box?

A more In depth/stricter evaluation of the claim.

Wrong Item received, (obviously) the DNA, boxing.

I believe the balance owed will be deducted from the purchase price, and the remaining figure will be refunded.

I've done some research on this an I'm almost certain it cannot.

This is what worries me. What I like about the "EB" method is that it is easily covered up with "my partner had already opened the box and taken it out!" or something similar. Then you just say you don't need it anymore as you purchased another elsewhere thinking you hadn't recieved it.

Is DNA possible even with photo taken? I'm pretty sure I've never had a delivery where they haven't taken a photo.
Sealed Box seems like it could work, but at that sort of value, I worry without an escape route similar to the "I found it" one above .
Wrong item recieved, I'd just buy something of the same weight. Would it have to be from the same warehouse? How do I figure out how heavy it is by looking at the site? Of course I have to use a different account to purchase the 'wrong item', but does it have to be delivered to a separate address?

Have never heard of this method!

Apologies for the abundance of questions, still trying to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of different methods.

Then the sealed box method Is well-suited.

Of course, the packaging must contain some type of factory seal.

You can fabricate an excuse with every method.

Yes It Is.

I've written an In depth article on my blog on how to circumvent photographic evidence.

Replace the original Item with a like-for-like product, and say you've mistakenly placed the Incorrect Item In the box.

As for why It was sealed to perfection, you were concerned that an opened/damaged box would void the refund, hence It was resealed In Its original state.

Correct.

Check on Amazon under "Product Information".

It's a very popular method used by SE'ers of all shapes and sizes.

No problem at all.

How similar would the weights have to be? GPU is 2.2kg, closest I've found is 2.37kg - is this close enough?

What weight am I matching, the weight within the amazon delivery packaging,/surrounding cardboard or the weight without - just the product in its original packaging?

When do they weigh the item on both sides, delivery and return? Right before dispatching on the delivery side and when it reaches the warehouse? Or does the driver who picks up my return weigh it as soon as I hand it over?

A 137 gram variance on a total weight of 2.2 kg Is fine.

Are you planning to box them or otherwise?

The Item weight.

Based on a local delivery and generally speaking, prior to the package dispatched from the company's warehouse, at the carrier's depot and just before It's loaded Into the van/truck for Its scheduled delivery run. Reverse the process for returns.

I’ve just realised it requires a OTP on delivery! They’ll email me the OTP and i’ll say it to the delivery driver. Does this affect anything at all?

Sorry, for some reason I cant quote, what do you mean by “plan to box”? I’m not familiar with this method!

Yes, It significantly affects the DNA.

The OTP Is assigned and dedicated to the delivery In question, which (from the receiver's end) no one but yourself knows the code. When the OTP Is given to the driver, It confirms that "you" gave It to him and accepted the package.

Will check out the boxing method.

Does OTP affect wrong item received? Or the boxing method?
