Congrats. How do you do damaged box + EB for one item? I thought initially you were trying to claim the lens itself was damaged?

decided to change the approach after research and advice from @mothered. They may ask for return of faulty item after using damaged item.

What i did was i took the item out, beat up the box that it came in, took it back outside and took photos and videos. Then i uploaded on paypal and said this is how the item was left outside, high value item, no signature blah blah. Paypal stepped in and took care of the rest

I have never read someone do this before, but what an amazing approach. It does (presumably) move liability from the warehouse in China to the courrier, but I am guessing that If you don;t have a bad reputation with the courrier that should be no problem.

Indeed It Is an excellent approach.

The only downside Is If the carrier usually raises a damage report with package Inconsistencies, then It'll work against you.

It depends. From what I understand, if the carrier notices any damage to the package they will likely raise a damage report which in some cases can release them from liability. This can work for you, especially in regards to the fellow se'r you replied to because once he shows the photos of the damaged package to the carrier and they see that there was no damage report made, then the carrier company would be liable due to the negligence of handling and delivering a damaged package without making any notations. Please feel free to correct me if I have that all wrong.

If the carrier didn't generate a damage report, then the package wasn't damaged In transit and at the time of delivery.

As such, If you damage It yourself, you'll be held responsible.
It's not possible to argue this:

How do you provide evidence of the driver's neglect to raise a report? I'll answer It for you - you can't.

That's cool. I was pretty much going to say I had a lot of success with getting the carrier to settle in my favor due to the carrier not doing a damage report on a package. Even had the claims reps state that if your package was damaged and the carrier didn't report it then thats on us.

That's pretty much how It works.

A damage report Is raised by the carrier to release themselves from liability. In addition to recording It Internally, some carriers also put damage report stickers on the package Itself.

Well done ! How long was the process with Paypal ? Did they ask you anything ? Did Aliexpress respond to the Paypal claim ?
