So the a Police Officer actually called me about btis and asked about the report, I explained everything and he basically said he doesn't get why Amazon has started doing this - they get hundreds of reports about this and every single one the have to just close with no further action. Basically slagging off Amazon for wasting ,my  time and his  time.

Although a PR Is Immaterial to your claim, tell the officer that Amazon has requested you to file a report.
Given It's not a theft-related Incident, he/she may refuse to give the PR.

Everyone except Amazon's pea-brain reps can see why the PR Is not relevant to your claim.

Going to send the PR  now and will query what you said about the delivery piece and keep you updated.

Accordingly, based on our investigations, we won’t be able to provide a replacement or refund for this order at this time. If you think that someone has intercepted your item without your permission, this is a crime, and you may wish to contact your local police authorities to pursue this matter further.

If the issue isn't resolved after contacting local police, please contact us again and include a PDF, JPG or PNG copy of the police report to the following address : uk-deliveryinvestigation@Amazon.co.uk

"wrong item received" seems a little too good to be true. I'm pretty new to SE, but what company would buy that they ship you the wrong thing, especially when the price difference is large. Say I order an iPhone and return a book of equivalent weight and size. The person handling the return MUST see right through my bullshit.. or? At the same time.. say that these mistakes actually DO happen, then there's not much for the company to say. Is the method still good?

Send the PR to their above email address and simply say: "As per your request, please find attached a copy of the police report".

What's your experience with "Sealed box method"? If I manage to re-seal a package with plastic so that it's 95% like original, is there still a reasonable risk that the company will break the fake seal and check the content? Assuming that I have filled it with something to the matching weight that doesn't bounce around in the box.

Sounds to me like that particular PD is getting fed up with those type of police reports, hopefully it get s to a point world wide where the police ask Amazon to stop this madness. The second it starts to affect their stats I think this will happen, mark my words. Then it will be open season on them again, you wait.

If you are OK with your SE having a 95% chance of working but likely much lower. Why aim for 95% ?
