In order to not risk raising suspicion how would waiting say a week or two before making the return and in between that timeframe make a legit purchase help?

I'd say a week at the minimum will suffice, and a legit purchase will certainly help draw attention away from the SE to some degree.

As said, they may not have the time to check but you basically only have one shot at nailing It, so It's best to play It safe.
