The oil Industry has made enough profit over the years, so this loss Is somewhat minimal.

I don't think this will be the end of those companies in any way. Especially as people are beginning to come out of lockdown and once vaccines are available... It may be business as usual. They will make a comeback.

However, the more local and personal impacts (those who lost their jobs), suppliers and subcontractors could see some permanent damage.

I am curious how this crisis will impact the oil-industry in the long run. Will environmental advocates have more ground to stand on/evidence to provide when pushing for legislation and policy change? Before, the impacts of the global use of oil were frequently argued... Now we have outright proof of how quickly changes can occur when we suddenly stop polluting. It's going to be interesting to see what happens next.
