Doing more research as to which company has tracking as an add-on, I think every postal service adds a tracking number for free... Do you think I can just say that the post office worker neglected to give me my tracking number and confirmation?

Given It's tracked, postal services keep a record of the tracking number and on request, can locate It based on the sender's details (yourself). If Lenovo Is aware of It and take this route, It will work against you.
I know that Royal Mail has a non-tracking service, namely 1st and 2nd class, however that's not an option for you.
If goods can be shipped via USPS without tracking, by all means use this In your SE. Again, this Is on the grounds that Lenovo do not nominate a carrier.
